TOUR OVERVIEW

Our Classic Half-Day Bike Tour is popular for good reason: You’ll enjoy the unique experience of bicycling through wine country – visiting two local wineries for tastings – and still finish early enough to make other plans for your afternoon!

You’ll join a small group (limited to 12 guests) led by a local, knowledgeable Tour Guide who’s there to enhance your education of the “vine-to-bottle” process. You’ll average just 3-6 miles of pedaling between winery visits.

Within the first mile or so, you’ll relax as you discover the pace is definitely catered to tourists, not cyclists. With a casual pace and frequent stops, the emphasis is on enjoying the scenery and discovering boutique and family-owned wineries along the way.

Don’t let the beautiful Sonoma Valley scenery pass you by while you sit inside a car, van or limo. Get out and experience the vineyards up close, engaging all five of your senses to create memories you’ll never forget.

Keep Rolling After Your Tour

After your bike tour concludes, you’re welcome to keep your bikes if you want to do some additional riding on your own. Be sure to ask your Tour Guide to recommend a scenic country backroad to explore or for a winery to visit within 2-3 miles of our shop. Bikes must be returned by shop close at 5:00 p.m.

Post-Tour Lunch Options

Here are a few of our favorite recommendations for places to grab a casual bite after the Half-Day bike tour:

Note: On rare occasions when there are 4 or fewer guests signed up for the Classic Half-Day Bike Tour, this tour may be combined with the Full-Day Sonoma Bike Tour for the first two winery visits. Following the tasting at second winery, Half-Day Bike Tour guests will be given the option to ride back self-guided or a complimentary van shuttle will be provided back to our shop.

TOUR OVERVIEW

Our Full-Day Bike Tour is an extension of the Half-Day that begins with a delicious picnic lunch, catered by our talented friends at the girl & the fig, served at a local winery overlooking the vineyards.

Don’t let the idea of a “Full-Day” tour intimidate you. We keep the riding distance to just 3 to 6 miles between each stop for a total of ~15 miles (~90 minutes total ride time) over the course of the day. The biking pace is catered to casual riders, not cyclists, so the experience is designed to be accessible for anyone with a moderate level of fitness.

Following your second tasting, you’ll enjoy a wine country picnic served on the winery grounds overlooking the vineyards. Lunch catered by the girl & the fig includes a delicious assortment of artisan sandwiches including turkey & cheddar with apricot-fig chutney, salami, pear & red onion confit with brie, and niman ranch ham with comte cheese and dijon mustard – all on homemade baguette. Vegetarians enjoy a portabella mushroom with goat cheese and roasted red peppers on ciabatta. Sandwiches are accompanied by green salad, fresh fruit and assorted nibbles.

After lunch, you’ll pedal to one more local winery – or sometimes we’ll visit a boutique tasting room near the plaza for a seated tasting of limited production wines – before concluding back at our shop close to 4:00 p.m.

Note: On rare occasions when there are 4 or fewer guests signed up for the Classic Half-Day Bike Tour, those guests may be combined with the Full-Day Bike Tour for a total of up to 12 guests at the first two winery visits. Half-Day Bike Tour guests will depart after the tasting at second winery (before lunch). A maximum of 8 guests will stay on for the picnic lunch, followed by third tasting at a winery or a tasting room in Sonoma.

ABOUT THE WINERIES

When you’re looking for world-class wines, the Sonoma Valley boasts an embarrassment of riches. But when it comes to finding a wine tasting experience that stands apart, a warm and welcoming tasting room team who exude a sincere eagerness to share their knowledge makes all the difference.

In this spirit, the overall experience predominantly determines the mix of wineries and/or tasting rooms you’ll visit on tour with us.

Tasting appointments are finalized 5-6 days ahead of your bike tour.

If you are concerned about duplicating visits, please let us know about any existing appointments you have made, so we can avoid those wineries on your bike tour: info@sonomavalleybiketours.com
